Zevin Shoes

Zevin is the new hit in Jakarta right now. When a friend of mine said that there's gonna be a new brand from Jakarta who will focused their products in Leather shoes, i didn't think it would be this good. I might say, Zevin is probably one of the best leather shoes company in Jakarta right now. Their products reflects their hard work and passion on the making of their stuffs.

Superb material and incredibly neat on the details and stitching. These things prove that they are ready to be Indonesia's premium leather shoe brand who can compete with well-known International brands such as Red Wings, etc.

For their first release, they have the Chukka Boat which came in 2 colourways, Grey and Navy.
Using Italian genuine wax leather for upper side, combined with goat skin leather for inside.



Beside their Chukka boat shoe, Zevin are also releasing the Vulture Boot, which also came in 2 different colourway, Brown and Black. Using Cow genuine leather for the upper and Goat skin leather for the inside and comes with crepe sole.

Penny Jakarta : Grand Opening Pictures

Trashlight & Coil Lamp by Craighton Berman

Craighton Berman is an industrial designer from Chicago, USA who was established the Craighton Berman Design in 2006. Craighton Berman is known for his willing to put his conceptual ideas into tangible objects. He previously designed the Stimulation Mug and the Power Reel.

Lately, he designed the Trashlight and the Coil Lamp.

Here is what he said about the trashlight design :

"You can learn a lot about somebody by looking through their trash.

Trashlight merges two household icons—the floor lamp and the trashcan. This unlikely combination brings the user’s garbage out into the domestic setting and illuminates it for examination by yourself and others. Trashlight takes transparency to an extreme— nothing is secret anymore, not even your waste.

What happens when we are forced to interact with our trash after we have “thrown it out”? What does our garbage say about us—are there things we are ashamed of admitting we consume? What happens when we have to “curate” our trash—burying things we want to hide and surfacing things we’re proud of? Finally, does putting our trash in the spotlight force us to further consider the nature of consumption and disposability?"

and here is what he said about the coil lamp :

"Coil reduces the domestic table lamp to the absolute minimum of defining elements. A single electrical cord coils around what appears to be an empty volume, defining the iconic form of a table lamp and ultimately powering a single light bulb.

The entire lamp is created exclusively from a 100 foot extension cord that has been wrapped around a laser-cut clear acrylic form. This simple transformation elevates the status of the humble extension cord to the realm of domestic design"

Penny Jakarta : Grand Opening

Our beloved friend, Penny Jakarta will have their Grand Opening party for their new store (still at the Graha Obor, but with bigger space now) on this Saturday, June 5th 2010.

Not just a moving party, they are celebrating their grand opening with a new collection from Vans, Capital and also Mad. They will also sell Tech Deck fingerboard and Royale Video Magazine on the new store.

Denial Denim is a Jogjakarta-based denim company that founded in early 2010. For their 2010 release, Denial Denim has chosen environment and animals as their inspiration.

"Animal Series #1. Denial Denim, a denim brand that have concern the environment, the theme of animal as form appreciation for the life of animals. Use animal product wisely! Save endangered animals!"

One thing that lost me is why do they use Wood and Leather material for a product that says "save environment and animals".

here is what they said about that :

"we just confirm why we still use wood and leather. our concept just remind other to back to nature and appreciate our enviroment. Utilize material from nature wisely.Wisely is defined as use of natural resources with responsibility and an appropriate portion, then natural ecosystems and animal populations are also not disturbed. Do not engage in illegal logging or poaching! Utilize of nature with responsibility, because nature and human beings need each other and profitable.

So, we just use WOOD RESIDUAL and leather residual from furniture industry in Jepara.in jepara also do selective logging system and use leather from stockbreeding.

then, what we do not disturb enviroment because we do in right way. Hopefully this reason can give a new perception about the themes that we picked up. Utilize from chemical like plastic can destroy the enviroment ASAP, so we just get something can be recycle. so, utilize from nature wisely isnt a violation.we also keep life of rare plants and endangered animals .stop global warming with your WISE behavior"

My final opinion is their products are awesome and the packaging is dope.

Jay Z is working with Jack White

One of the biggest hip hop king, Jay Z is confirmed to work something with Jack White of the White Stripes. There are still no official review or sneaks of what they're doing, but these photos will get you excited.



"We did a song together a few weeks ago. It was incredible. I played him something that I've been kicking around for a while and he immediately came out with words for it. It's unbelievable sounding," White said.
