Nike & Michael J. Fox Foundation | Back for the Future

I'm pretty sure you remember the movie Back to the Future II, staring Michael J Fox. This movie was set in the year 2015 and featured a shoe worn by Marty McFly himself called the Nike Mag. Well, today, September 9th 2011, 1500 replicas of this shoe will be released and auctioned off on eBay with all net proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons. You should know, Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991, and disclosed his condition to the public in 1998 and he semi-retired from acting in 2000 as the symptoms of his disease worsened.

One of the most exciting outcomes of this project is that the original creative teams and Universal Studios has partnered with Nike to create a new piece of Back to the Future short film (2 min). The film explains why the 2011 Nike Mag doesn’t power lace and could be considered a lost episode of the original series where Doc Brown seeks out future gear for Marty to “fit in” to his 2015 surroundings.

This shoe lights up and is the first power rechargeable Nike shoe, However, it does not “Power Lace,” or lace itself as it does in the movie. Well, at least not til 2015 like the original movie said.

Beats, Rhymes & Life - The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest

"Beats, Rhymes and Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest” is a documentary film directed by Michael Rapaport about one of the most influential and groundbreaking musical groups in hip-hop history. Having released five gold and platinum selling albums within eight years, A Tribe Called Quest has been one of the most commercially successful and artistically significant musical groups in recent history, and regarded as iconic pioneers of hip hop. The band’s sudden break-up in 1998 shocked the industry and saddened the scores of fans, whose appetite for the group’s innovative musical stylings never seems to diminish.

In addition to chronicling the past, present and uncertain future of the band, the film includes interviews from the Beastie Boys, Kanye West, Pharrell, Mos Def, Santigold, Monie Love, Pete Rock, Large Professor, De La Soul, The Jungle Brothers and Common, all of whom attribute some combination of love, respect, and inspiration drawn from the legacy of A Tribe Called Quest."

Catatan Harian Si Boy - Movie Trailer

After watching this movie trailer, i must say, this movie is one to watch in this 2011! Yep, "Catatan Harian Si Boy" is the brand new version of "Boy" from the 80s era. The Director, Putrama Tuta said that this movie is NOT a remake of the legendary earlier "Catatan Si Boy" Movie, but this is the brand new Boy. "This is about Boy of this generation", Tuta said. He also added, this movie is not about Boy, This movie will tell a story about Boy finding a young man, Satrio (play by Ario Bayu) to continue his legacy.

With loads of Indonesia's promising actors and actresses such as Ario Bayu, Carissa Puteri, Poppy Sovia, Albert Halim, etc. and also with the original "Catatan Si Boy" cast such as Didi Petet and Onky Alexander, this movie is a must watch. Lets hope that this movie is a good comeback for Indonesian Movie, like what "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta" did years ago. Ooh, another interesting thing about "Catatan Harian Si Boy" is that the Genius Aghi Narotama and Bemby Gusti and also Adiran Martadinata is doing the main music scores.

Nike Basketball presents "The Black Mamba" movie

Click for bigger size. Cool poster you might say, right?

With the 2011 All-Star Weekend in LA, a movie called "The Black Mamba" will be premiered this Friday, 19th February, 1:00am EST - hence our Sat Feb 19th, 5pm.

The Black Mamba, staring NBA Star, Kobe Bryant with Kanye West, Bruce Willis and Danny Trejo, is a Nike Basketball production directed by Robert Rodriguez (You know him right? The man who brought you Machete, Sin City, Grindhouse, Planet Terror, etc). The film brings Kobe’s alter ego, the Black Mamba to life in a way that’s never been seen before. As the trailer shows, Black Mamba highlights Kobe’s everyday determination and “fight to the finish” spirit. The film also showcases Kobe as one of the best basketball players in the world, featuring him as a “protector" of basketball as he fights off those wishing to destroy and attack the game.

"Nike’s All-Star Pre-Heat event also unveiled several new colorways of the Nike Zoom Kobe VI including three commemorating neighborhoods in and around the site of the 2011 All-Star Game in Los Angeles. Representing and drawing inspiration from East LA, Orange County and Hollywood, these footwear styles pay homage to the unique sprit of these distinct Los Angeles neighborhoods. Each of the three Kobe VI colors leads a pack of iconic Nike silhouettes including two Hyperfuse and the Air Force 1.

The Nike Zoom Kobe VI is a performance basketball shoe inspired by the black mamba. The design draws cues from this fearsome snake and incorporates key performance elements in a low-profile shoe that weighs just 10.6 ounces in a men’s US size 9.

Also featured at the event was the Nike Sportswear K.O.B.E True Colors collection whose designs depict an iconic athlete’s road to success, as a collection of staple outerwear and apparel, delivering the very best blends of form, function and personality. With education as the graphic foundation, this is a lesson in Kobe’s life and inspirations delivered differently. This collection is inspired by the battle for knowledge of self, challenging the status quo and celebrating those who destroyed barriers to get to a new space."

Movie(s) to watch in 2011

There will be a bunch of great movies (at least it seems like its great) to be released in this year of 2011. To name a few, the last movie of Harry Potter, the prequel to X-Men "X-Men : First Class", Scream 4 (still with Neve Campbell apparently), Thor, Captain America, etc. Here below are the movies to watch also in 2011.

From the producers of Twilight Saga, comes Red Riding Hood. This new Dark & twisted Red Riding Hood will have Amanda Seyfried. But looks like this movie will be just another love triangle story.

This one is my most anticipated movie in march 2011. "Happy Thank You More Please" is a movie written and produced by How I Met Your Mother's, Josh Radnor (Ted Mosby). On his directorial debut, Josh is bringing you a sharp comedy centered on a group of 20-something New Yorkers struggling to figure out themselves, their lives and their loves. Already premiered and been a big hit on Sundance Festival 2010, this movie is one to watch in 2011, will be released in March 2011. Some internet dudes said that this movie is the next "500 days of Summer"

Saw the trailer of "Limitless" couple days ago, about an average guy, Eddie Morra (Cooper) whose been introduced to NZT, a revolutionary pharmaceutical that allows him to tap his full potential and in the end seems to turn his life into a jeopardy. Also starring Robert de Niro & Anna Friel.

Story about Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he's part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he's ever known, he learns he's part of a government experiment called the "Source Code," a program that enables him to cross over into another man's identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. Also starring Michelle Monaghan (eagle eye, made of honor, heartbreak kid, etc)

Endhiran / Robot - Bollywood Movie

A Bollywood action flick. It's like Terminator, The Matrix, and Transformers combined, but better. Or, as Jesus summarized, "an orgy of absurdity that not even Michael Bay can match."
