Alexandre Plokohov of Helmut Lang x UNIQLO

If you haven't heard this news by now, you might be living in a cave. Newly appointed Helmut Lang designer, Alexandre Plokohov (actually, i don't know who he was), dropped a range of collaborative collection with Japanese retailer, Uniqlo. Honestly, I'm more interested in these rather than those Wang x H&M thing. On the note, these collection will be available real soon at Uniqlo retail locations ranging from US$20 to US$60.

H&M Indonesia presents the Autumn / Winter 2014 Collection Preview

Last wednesday, the kind people of H&M Indonesia has given us editors & medias a glimpse on their special collection, the H&M Studio, as well as previewing the Mens Collection for the upcoming Autumn / Winter 2014 that will be available in the Grand Indonesia store around September this year. The H&M Studio Line (which is currently dedicated to womenswear only), is the limited range from H&M that is designed as special collection that came out from their own design studio. It was meant to be a special collection that isn't part of a collaboration project, but still result in a higher quality products. Since this blog, STANDARD ISSUE is more focused on mens products, i won't talk much about the womenswear collection, but you can see them at HAND~OVER's Mall Creepers journal, here.

So let's see about the Menswear Collection for the upcoming A/W 2014. Inspired much by the English Mod Subculture, the collection gives out the mix of both London & Parisian street looks, as well as New York kind of freedom is expressed through out the entire collection. Key items comes with both heavyweight & lightweight material such as Rip Stop, Wool, Leather, Cotton, Nylon, and Mohair textures. Almost all products has the same similarity, which is attention to details like traditional sewing techniques, tech & functional zipper, welt pocket, and a hybrid on classic & staple menswear pieces. My eyes were on to this beautiful hybrid version of classic Pilot / Bomber Jacket that remind me of Engineered Garments.

Another highlight from the collection was the upcoming collaborative capsule collection between H&M and Liberty London. Liberty has lend their patterned fabric to H&M for this A/W'14, and here is one of them.

Other than that, here are some of the items for their general & sportswear release this A/W season. They will also release another series of H&M Conscious Denim range, that were made using a technique where less water is used on making such good looking denim jeans.

Not to miss, i found these slub t-shirts from the women's H&M Studio line that i thought would be a perfect addition to H&M's menswear collection.

Celebrating their one year anniversary, Flyknit came with its latest form, which combines its revolutionary knitted upper, with the Lunarlon foam cushioning, makes it extremely lightweight and comfortable. To make it even more perfect, Nike also incorporates their Flywire cables to the shoe so it will give a great support to your feet while you move or run. Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+ is now available in 6 colorways (3 men, 3 womens), at Nike Pacific Place Jakarta and Nike Grand Indonesia. Surrender - 40 days Pop Up in Jakarta

As a style conscious dude in South East Asia, you should be quite familiar with one of the finest multi-label store from Singapore, named SURRENDER. Having known for its distinctive mix of brands that can be labeled as "fine menswear", Surrender is no doubt one of the most "must-go" place when people visit Singapore.
This January, Mr. Earn Chen teams up with 707 crew to open a temporary pop up store in Jakarta, Indonesia. Having situated on the ground floor of Plaza Senayan, the store had its opening party last week, on January 17th, and scheduled to stay open for 40 days or six weeks. With the opening of Surrender's temporary retail space, men in Jakarta with deep pockets will be extremely happy cause they are bringing lots of good stuff inside.
Brands you can cop at Surrender Jakarta : Maison Kitsune, Neighborhood, Cav Empt (C.E.), Thom Browne, Luker by Neighborhood, Common Projects, Island Slippers, Nanamica, Orlebar Brown, Brooklyn Tailors, Band of Outsiders, Want les essentiels de la vie, and W)Taps.
The opening of store like Surrender (even just for a real short time) might proven that Indonesia is actually heading towards the right direction in the retail business. Last year, we had Otoko bringing Gitman, Yuketen, Porter and stuffs, and Brooks Brothers opened its first door in Indonesia. This year, we are also be welcoming the likes of H&M, Uniqlo, and Paul Smith. And not to forget, Lotte Shopping Avenue and Galerie Lafayette will also be opened this year in Jakarta.

Apple Store to open in Indonesia

Apple Store, Shanghai

Whatever you'll think of me, fuck it. Yes, i'm an Apple fanboy since the first gen of 2GB iPod nano. Surprisingly, i recently read the news that Apple Inc. is soon to open the first Apple Store in Indonesia. That means that this country will have its direct distribution center for Apple products, which also means that we're not gonna be some "later" country whenever Apple Inc. releases new product. Another good news is that apparently, we've been receiving Apple products via Singapore, and that is one of the reason why Apple product prices are steeper here in Indonesia. By having its own distributor here, that can only mean one thing : Apple products will be cheaper than before.

As in this moment, Apple has three stores in Asia region, one in Shanghai, one in Hong Kong, and one in Tokyo. Indonesia' Apple store is predicted to be in Jakarta. Will we have a cool glassy store like the ones they had in New York, Shanghai or Tokyo? Let's see.

Komono, Now Available at Debenhams, Kemang Village

Some of you might've seen the brand before at Hypebeast's online store. And yes, Komono watches are now available at Lippo Mall / Kemang Village's Debenhams, at their new young designer's space, D Space.
The watches are a quite decent alternative to the low ranges from Nixon, Casio or Timex, and ranged around IDR 500k - 700k.

I'm really looking forward for the opening, scheduled in late January 2013.

Jakarta, back then

Classic

Around two or three weeks ago, i found this page called 'Indonesia Tempo Dulu' on Facebook. Basically, what they are doing is posting some vintage photos & postcards of cities around Indonesia from the late 19th century to the late 80s. What i like is that on this page you can see how Indonesia, especially Jakarta was meant to be very decent from the side of transportation and city plan. Even in the '90s (since i was born in '87), I was able to witness some greatness that Jakarta had back then. Still green, people are cool, but somehow, our beloved city turns out to be extremely chaotic nowadays. What happened, really?

Check out these beautiful imageries of Jakarta, below, or head to Indonesia Tempo Dulu, here.
