Wall of Fades 2010

Last week, Indonesian Denim Group or known as Indigo held the most anticipated denim event this year, Wall of Fades 2010. Wall of Fades is an annual event by Indigo for the denim afficionados and also for educating society about greatness of denim. After a succesfull event last year at Studiology, this year Indigo held the event at Mitra Hadiprana Building, Kemang. With "Denim Workshop" as the main theme, here you can see any details about denim, like the material itself, rivets, button, patches, etc. You can also read about the history of denim and learn how to measure your denim, watch videos about how the denim is made.

The main event is the announcement of the Indigo X Self Edge Denim Contest 2010 with Mr. Christ Marcel as the winner with his The Flat Head jeans, leaves Mr. Nuki Pense and Mr. Fitro Senna at 2nd & 3rd place. Another congratulations goes to Mr. Frg and his Elhaus Jeans, for the winner of Audience Favourite pair at Wall of Fades 2010. The Contest winner got a Self Edge voucher for $150 + Leather wallet from Cocoline, customized for Indigo Contest Winner.

Alongside the Gallery, there's also a denim bazaar with Seagull Denim, Alter Cotton, Mischief Denim, Pot Meets Pop Denim, Vaya Con Dios, Akaime Denim, Zevin Shoes, Vision Mission Jeans, Ruffneck Jeans, Reverts Denim, Cocoline Leather and Penny JKT.

There are some mad jeans at the gallery section, for example you can see a pair of a custom made Double Volante denim owned by the creator of Darahkubiru, Mr. Direz. And then you can see one of the hottest Self Edge Collaboration this year, the Flat Head X RingRing X Self Edge 10, and one of the Samurai's limited edition "Go-Rin-No-Sho" series, the Fire Element.

Self Edge X Imperial = SExI14

For their 14th Collaboration project, Self Edge has teamed up again (for the third time!) with australia's Imperial Jeans. Yep after previously got quite successful with the SExI04 and SExI08, They are now releasing SExI14 (Self Edge X Imperial, the 14th Collaboration). Once again, Imperial is bringing their famous slim cut which combined with Self Edge's great source of Material.

"The denim has a very unique feel to it, it's abrasive at first but definitely not very rigid due to the lack of starch. The belt loops are rolled for sturdiness, the pack pockets are riveted, and the inside pocket bags are screened."

Self Edge collaborations with Imperial was always a hit, and i think this one will be great too. Same as the previous SExI collabs, SExI14 are available in 2 colour, the Raw Indigo and the Raw Black.

The Strike Gold : SG1101 & SG1105

"Hailing from Okayama, the denim capital of Japan, Strike Gold is a line created by the Hamamoto brothers with over twenty years of experience in the Japanese denim industry. Bringing simple styles with the utmost attention to detail to their jean line we're very excited to be offering this brand at Self Edge."

"This denim from Strike Gold has massive character even when raw with a lot of loom chatter visible from both the warp and weft sides of the denim. Due to the abrasive nature of the denim when raw the jean will age faster than most jeans and yield an extremely high contrast fade with normal wear.
Strike Gold has gone to the extent of getting custom rivets made which have a male part made of iron and a female piece made of copper. The reason for this is that the male piece will begin to rust over time but the female piece will darken and leaf over time giving the wearer a well rounded aging pattern even on the rivets. Crazy for some, essential for others."

The SG1105 jean is a slim leg fit that's got a medium rise and is slim from the top to the bottom but doesn't hug the calf.

The SG1101 jean is a straight leg fit with a flattering silhouette for all body types with a medium rise and a classic fit.

SExI 08

Self Edge has just given us the preview to their latest collaboration with Imperial Brand. After they made a great success with SExI 04 before, no Self Edge has teamed up again with Imperial, making SExI 08 (SExI stands for Self Edge x Imperial). SExI 08 comes in a super slim cut (18.5cm cut) , with 15oz selvage denim and as usual, 39" inseam length.

The Leather patch shows 3 different flags, which is Australian (Imperial is an Australian brand), and then Japan (because SExI08 are made in Japan, and the denim Material were woven in Japan) and the last is U.S.A. (cause the Cotton comes from California, U.S. of A.)


"We've moved the production of this jean to Japan, where normally Imperial's jeans are made in Australia. Moving the production to Japan enabled us to work closely with the factory and the mill that produced the denim. The outcome is 15oz unsanforized right hand twill denim made in both indigo and black produced in Ibara, Japan. For those that always wanted an Imperial jean to fade like many of the other Japanese lines we carry with a high intensity fade and quite a bit of character, these are for you as they're sure to age well and fade over time due to the lack of processing the denim has gone through after the weaving process.

The leather tag and silkscreened pocket bag art are an homage to the Australian, Japanese, and American connection. Small rear pockets embroidered with dark indigo thread, chainstitched hems, a custom leather tag, and a silkscreened inner pocket bag round out the features on this custom collaboration between Self Edge and Australia's Imperial Clothing Company. The silhouette is a slim fitting 18.5cm cut with an inseam that shrinks to ~36 inch. "

okay, after collaborating with famous names like Imperial, SugarCane, etc. , Self Edge collaborate with Japan's longest running vintage Americana style denim manufacturers, DRY BONES and also the well known Superfuture (with supertalk and superdenims inside them) to make an exclusive pair. yep its called SEXDBXS09.

SELF EDGE X SUGARCANE

after previously collaborating with brands like Imperial (SEXIs), The Flat Head (, now Self Edge is collaborating with Sugarcane, the famous Japanese denim, making the SEXSC06. here is what they said about SEXSC06 on their site,

"The SEXSC06 jeans offer plenty of inseam length on a mid/low-rise, narrow-leg body made with specially crafted 13oz Japanese denim produced from 50% Okinawa cotton and 50% Okinawa sugar cane that is loomed on vintage power-operated shuttle looms in such a way as to duplicate the looser, more-porous, slubby weave associated with hand-powered wooden looms from the 19th century, creating a breathable jean that's perfect for warmer climates. "
