Bon Iver at AIR Studios (4AD/Jagjaguwar Session)

I've been a fan of Justin Vernon or Bon Iver since the days of "Skinny Love" or "Blindsided". Recently offered on the internet via Bon Iver's YouTube page, a 24 minutes video of Justin Vernon and Sean Carey performing songs just by the two of 'em.
"Recorded in AIR Studio's Lyndurst Hall - a building that was originally a church and missionary school designed in 1880 by the great Victorian architect Alfred Waterhouse (designer of the Natural History Museum) - Vernon was joined only by Carey, with the pair positioning themselves opposite one another at two grand pianos. Although neither Justin nor Sean's first instrument is piano, they were able to remodel the songs in a way that showcases their complimentary vocals and, perhaps more strikingly, a seemingly effortless ability to experiment with form and structure.

As such, fans are treated to jaw-dropping interpretations of several songs from both the new album and the 'Blood Bank' EP, as well as a cover of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me". And interpretation is an apt word, as these songs are artfully abstracted from their original incarnations. Rather than layer the sound as on 'Bon Iver, Bon Iver', the focus is on paring back, in part evoking the minimalist approach of contemporary classical music, while remaining true enough to the source material to retain those elements characteristic of Bon Iver.

As on "Babys" and "Hinnom, TX", Vernon's trademark falsetto is positioned centre stage, framed by subtle and unexpected instrumental flourishes that render the performance simultaneously weighty and airless. It's quite an achievement that songs so widely-known and loved in their recorded form are able gain in emotional impact, and stands as testament to Bon Iver's singular talent. "
Track List :
1. Hinnom, TX
2. Wash.
3. I Can't Make You Love Me
4. Babys
5. Beth/Rest

Stephen Colbert with The Roots, Jimmy Fallon and Taylor Hicks - Friday

One of the most epic combo in Late Night Show this year sings Rebecca Black's "Friday". All of 'em, from the Auto tunes, black dude in a car, etc. Quiet surprising to see the legendary Roots crew including Questlove himself to performed such song. Another surprise is the former American Idol, Taylor Hicks (Rarely seen on TV though he won the American Idol title on season 5). And, see how Stephen Colbert's face looked so serious when he performed this song. He must be digging the song. Well, Check it out below!

Last Monday, Colbert appeared on Fallon's 'Late Night' to discuss the $26,000 donation he had promised Fallon would donate to DonorsChoose.org without Fallon's discretion. After some comical dialogue between the two, Fallon promised his audience that if they helped him raise the money by this past Friday, Colbert would come back on the show and sing "one of the most important songs of our time." Low and behold, the $26,000 was raised in under 36 hours and Colbert owned up to the promise Fallon made on his behalf.

With support from The Roots, former American Idol winner Taylor Hicks and Fallon himself, here is Colbert's performance of everyone's favorite song of the moment: "Friday" by Rebecca Black.

One of America's best alternative rock band from Mesa, Arizona, Jimmy Eat World had their first time concert in Jakarta on April 3rd 2011. The concert took place in Nusa Indah Theatre, Balai Kartini, Jakarta. Being held in a theater made it felt like a very intimate concert for their Indonesian fans who waited like years until they finally came.

Opened with Bleed American, Jimmy Eat World performed their songs from the old albums like Goodbye Sky Harbor, For Me this is Heaven (From the album Clarity), A Praise Chorus from Bleed American album, and then some of their songs from the Futures album, such as Work, Futures and 23, and then they also performed their new songs like Dizzy (Chase This Light) and My Best Theory (From their latest album, Invented), they even made it more intimate with the song Hear You Me. The concert ends with the final encore where they performed two of their most popular tracks, The Middle and Sweetness.

Overall this is such a great concert, great performance, great place, and the fans are singing along with the Band. Too bad many of their great songs that weren't on their live track list, such as If You Don't Don't, Disintegration, Night Drive, The World You Love, Just Watch the Fireworks, etc. But off course, they can comeback anytime here to Jakarta, cause their fans will always welcome them.
